The relationship between Canines and Humans is one of the oldest and most profound inter species partnerships. In considering how we came to share our homes with this prehistoric predator I will look at our shared history, the different breeds that were developed and the service that dogs provide.  

I have had the pleasure of being a police dog handler and instructor for over 23 years. I have handled German Shepherds for general purpose work and a Labrador and Border Collie for specialist detection duties. Retiring in 2001 I reside in Doonfoot with my pet German Shepherd and my wife.

SubjectScottish Frauds and Hoaxes

This talk is on a selection of Scottish hoaxers who have duped others. It includes The Man Who Sold Nelson's Column, and examples from Ayrshire, including the bogus minister, the Buchanites, Burns Temple  and other tales. 

 
Dane Love was born in Cumnock, Ayrshire. He was educated in the town, followed by Jordanhill College of Education in Glasgow, from where he graduated as a schoolteacher. He worked as a Principal Teacher at Irvine Royal Academy, but has since retired.
 
Dane has had a long interest in Scottish and, in particular, local history. He has spent many hours travelling around the country, researching for his books. His first book was published in 1989, since when he has written dozens more.
